Brekkie with sports stars
Imagine starting the day sitting at the breakfast table with former rugby league player and boxer Monty Betham or netballer Temepara George.
The chance to chat with a host of celebrities over bacon and eggs is coming up – and it’s all for a good cause.
Breakfast With The Stars is being held on March 25 at the Auckland Racing Club at the Ellerslie Racecourse.
For $65 per person guests will get to eat breakfast with a celebrity at their table, listen to a live question and answer session with boxers David Tua and Shane Cameron and hear guest speaker Eric Rush. The Mad Butcher, Peter Leitch, is MC.
Breakfast With The Stars is raising money for the Koru Trust, formed in 2002.
Executive director Tea Ropati, a former Warriors and Kiwis rugby league star, says the aim is to raise money to continue the trust’s good work with youth.
The trust works with atrisk youth, mainly in Manukau city, and runs a number of mentoring, leadership and coaching projects.
Some of these include working with young people who are in alternative education on subjects like goal setting and motivation.
Mr Ropati says the Koru Trust also runs a Pacific Pride programme at One Tree Hill College which aims to improve the achievement standards of Pacific Island students and encourage them to in turn help their peers.
As part of Pacific Pride 20 youngsters have recently been on a leadership camp.
Mr Ropati hopes people take the opportunity to breakfast with the stars and support the trust.
Breakfast With The Stars is from 7am to 8.30am. To book tickets or a table of 10 call Vanessa on 021-797-065 or email firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday.
