Peo­ple need­ing fi­nan­cial help to re­store or main­tain her­itage build­ings, ob­jects or prop­er­ties can ap­ply to the Auck­land City Coun­cil’s Cul­tural Her­itage fund.

The grant, which has a to­tal of $50,000 avail­able for projects, is for the restora­tion or main­te­nance of cul­tural her­itage through­out Auck­land city. Projects can in­clude things such as fa­cade en­hance­ment or con­ser­va­tion plans.

City de­vel­op­ment com­mit­tee chair­man Aaron Bhat­na­gar says the coun­cil recog­nises that it can be ex­pen­sive for own­ers to main­tain prop­er­ties of his­tor­i­cal value.

Applications to the fund are open un­til April 17.
