Young talent shines
Potential future Black Sox got to show their skills at the boys’ Central Zone intermediate softball tournament earlier this month.
Pasadena Intermediate won the year seven final, with hosts Wesley Intermediate second and Waikowhai Inter- mediate coming third.
And in the year 8 final Kowhai Intermediate took out the title, with Balmoral Intermediate runners-up and Waikowhai and St Peters sharing third spot.
Waikowhai year 7 student Bradley Dennehy-Beals, 11, says he had a great day at the tournament.
“There were heaps of good catches and hits.”
Tournament organiser Sharon Browne says there’s plenty of junior softball talent in central Auckland, with a number of close matches during the competition.
