With a motto of ‘Fresh is Best’ and a counter spanning 24 metres there is ample room to view the top quality meat on display at the Mt Albert store.
Owner Susan Sun says the store specialises in providing meats cut in different styles for customers from a diverse cultural mix, with staff trained in providing produce cut to the particular requirements of its Kiwi, Indian, Maori and Asian clients.
For example Malaysian customers like their pork chops sliced very thin, says Mrs Sun, while others like their meat to be marinated in certain ways.
Special orders for certain types and styles of meats can be placed by phone.
The best quality meats are a hallmark of the store. Beef and lamb is supplied by Hellaby meats and supplied pork is 100 percent New Zealand produced, and all of the curing, sausagemaking and bacon production is done in-store.
Competitive prices at wholesale-type rates are also a feature. Currently shoulder bacon is just $1.09 per 100 grams, beef meaty-bone is $2.99 per kilo, beef brisket with bone is $4.99 per kilo, and pork-loin chops are just $9.99 per kilo.
Sausage skins are also sold separately so cus- tomers can make their own varieties at home, and customers spending over $30 are entitled to a free knife-sharpening service.
Further customer service is provided by the placing of recipe magazines on the display counter with staff able to photocopy a desired page for clients.
