Pay less for specs without sacrificing quality at John O’Connor Optometrists
If you’ve been putting off getting new eyeglasses because you thought they were too expensive, then it’s time you visited John O’Connor Optometrists in Newmarket or Henderson. You can get a prescription pair of glasses, complete with frame, single vision stock lenses made by Hoya with scratch resistant coating and a one-year warranty from as little as $99. This is not a special deal or a limited time offer. This is all the time, every day, year ‘round. Eye examinations are just $49, making the entire package of eyewear and exam incredibly affordable.
Upgrade to anti-glare/ anti-smudge coating for just another $70, for which some stores charge $180 or more.
Surely there’s a catch if the prices are this low. “No, there’s no gimmick,” says owner Colin Li, who works alongside his wife, Wen Li Keng as an optometrist in both the Newmarket and Henderson stores. “We’re a local business keen to get to know our customers and help them take care of their eyes. We can offer such good prices because we’ve adopted a different business model than you’ll usually find. We buy in large quantities from local New Zealand suppliers and pass our savings on to our customers. Our profit margin may be less but our volume is higher. And we’re helping people who might not be able to afford prescription eyewear get the glasses they need.” Parents with Community Services Cards can bring in their under-16 year olds for a spectacle subsidy including eye exam, frame and lenses. Other conditions apply.
John O’Connor Optometrists stocks more than 800 frames, including those from designers such as Armani, Calvin Klein, Fendi, Fubu, La- coste, Nike and more. Another point of difference: the price you find on the frame, is the price you’ll pay for the frame AND single-vision lenses. Bi-focal and progressive lenses cost more.
So at these prices, why not toss away those one-prescription-fitsall reading glasses and pamper your eyes with a pair of specs designed just for them? Goodbye headaches and eye strain.
John O’Connor Optometrists is located in Newmarket at 49 Remuera Rd, opposite Dick Smith’s. The Henderson store is located at 371 Great North Rd, opposite Westfield Mall. Both stores are open 6 days. Free parking at Newmarket is available. To schedule an exam, or for more information, ring the Newmarket store on 522 1283 and the Henderson store on 836 1731.
