Photos recall fallen soldiers
Those interested in exploring New Zealand’s military history can visit an exhibition of war graves in Three Kings.
The War Graves Trust is undertaking a project to photograph all the graves and primary memorials of New Zealand armed services members who died in conflicts.
A selection of the photographs, which start from the Anglo-Boer War in 1899 to East Timor, are on display at the Ranfurly Veterans House, along with the stories behind them.
There are 30,321 New Zealand war graves in 63 countries, from France and Belgium to Bulgaria and Kenya.
The exhibition will be open daily from noon to 7pm until April 28, except on Anzac Day tomorrow, when it will be open from 9am to 7pm.
