Chil­dren’s book il­lus­tra­tor Brian Love­lock will be tour­ing New Zealand with 26 other writ­ers and il­lus­tra­tors as part of the New Zealand Post Book Awards Fes­ti­val.

From May 11 to 19, the fi­nal­ists will visit schools, li­braries and book­shops.

Mr Love­lock will host a work­shop at 2pm at Grey Lynn li­brary on May 11.

In ad­di­tion, sev­eral read­ings of fi­nal­ist pic­ture books will be held for chil­dren. Th­ese in­clude: • De­sign a book­plate com­pe­ti­tion – based on one of the fi­nal­ists, May 1 to 18. Win­ners will re­ceive a se­lec­tion of fi­nal­ist books • Pt Che­va­lier li­brary will hold a read­ing at 10am on May 11 • Grey Lynn li­brary will hold a sto­ry­time ses­sion on May 12 at 10am and at 10.30am in the cen­tral city li­brary • On May 13 a sto­ry­time ses­sion will run at Blockhouse Bay li­brary at 10.30am and 11am at the Mt Roskill com­mu­nity li­brary • Avon­dale and Grey Lynn li­braries will host sto­ry­time at 10am on May 14 and the Blockhouse Bay and Ep­som li­braries will have sto­ry­time at 10.30am • May 15 will see Pt Che­va­lier li­brary host sto­ry­time at 10am, Leys In­sti­tute and One­hunga com­mu­nity li­brary host it at 10.30am and Mt Al­bert com­mu­nity li­brary at 11am • The cen­tral city li­brary and One­hunga com­mu­nity li­brary will host sto­ry­time at 10.30am on May 16 and 11am at Avon­dale, Mt Al­bert and Mt Roskill com­mu­nity li­braries • On May 17 a sto­ry­time ses­sion will be held at 1pm at the Mt Al­bert com­mu­nity li­brary.
