Confidence and communication are increasingly being seen as two of life’s greatest assets.

The Helen O’Grady Children’s Drama Academy provides children with a self development programme, designed to increase their confidence, self esteem, communicative ability and creative talents, through a carefully constructed, progressive drama syllabus. A great amount of time has been spent developing a curriculum encompassing an extensive range of drama activi- ties, designed to capture the imagination of children of all ages.

The aim is to tap into the natural interest that children have in these areas and channel it to develop confident, articulate children, who desire to make a positive contribution to the community.

Helen O’Grady, origi- nator of the acclaimed system, has extensive experience as a teacher, children’s television presenter and professional actress on both stage and television.

Many years ago Helen became a Licentiate of Trinity College, London and in doing so embarked on a life long passion to promote the development of children through speech and drama. Her extraordinary ability to motivate others in her chosen field has resulted in over 130 branches operating within the Helen O’Grady international network and almost 50,000 children attending her drama programme each week.

Trinity College has recognised Helen’s unique achievements by conferring on her an honorary Fellowship – FTCL – the highest academic qualification awarded by the College, “in recognition of the wonderful work she has done in promoting drama on such a global basis.”

As New Zealand is Helen’s real home, being born and bred down south, the New Zealand network is close to her heart so she keeps in close contact with the NZ network and attends national seminars here when she can.

She is an inspiration to all who work with her and promotes the programme as passionately now as she did 29 years ago when she started the original classes in Perth, Australia.

Over the last 15 years in New Zealand, thousands of children have been inspired by Helen’s unique programme.

Classes are run in studios throughout Auckland after school.
