Grief support on Mother’s Day
People whose mothers have passed away can remember them at a morning tea.
Mercy Hospice Auckland in Ponsonby is holding the event on Mother’s Day to honour and remember mothers who have died.
Jayne Huggard, who works in the staff and family support team at the hospice, says that for many bereaved people, Mother’s Day and other anniversaries are difficult days to get through.
Those coming are encouraged to bring a photo of their mother which will be displayed on a table.
There will also be music, stories and poetry readings.
Eco-friendly pink balloons will be released as a ritual of remembrance.
The afternoon tea will begin at 3pm and will be held in the lounge at the hospice at 61 College Hill, Ponsonby.
