Applications are now open to prospective firsttime tertiary students aged between 17 and 25, for the Mike Pero Mortgages Foundation Scholarship Programme 2010.

Three tertiary education scholarships are offered, two worth $5000 and one worth $2500, for any recognised programme of fulltime tertiary study in New Zealand.

The programme, now in its fourth year, proved popular last year with more than 600 applications nationally.

Mike Pero Mortgages chief executive Shaun Riley says the foundation realises the importance of tertiary education but is aware of the costs.

“In today’s current climate, it can be a challenge for students and their families.

“It may even be the reason some do not at- tend university or polytech.

“The scholarships will help remove this barrier for at least three talented young students and is another way Mike Pero Mortgages is helping the communities it works in.”

Application forms are available online at www. mikepero.co.nz, and close 6pm Thursday, August 27. Successful recipients will be announced in November.
