Cribtalk chat

A new community service is being launched tomorrow, offering free advice and coffee to new mothers from trained Karitane nurses.

Named Cribtalk, the service has been set up by the Karitane Nurses and Nannies Bureau.

Meetings will be held in Grey Lynn once a month.

Bureau manager Kirsten Varley says the initiative was designed to give new parents a relaxed way to meet over tea or coffee while gaining valuable insights from experienced nurses.

“While there are various coffee groups for new parents, some people find it too much to provide morning tea for 10 people in their own home while also looking after their newborn,” she says.

“Cribtalk gives people the chance to meet other new parents in a casual, non-pressured environment and at the same time ask the experts for advice about babies.”

The sessions will be held at 1 Wallingford St, Grey Lynn, on the first Thursday of every month from 9am to 3pm.
