Locals wanting to have their say in the upcoming Mt Albert byelection need to enrol as soon as possible.

Monday is the cutoff date to get on the printed electoral roll for the June 13 byelection.

Those who enrol after Monday will have to cast a special vote, which is a longer process to go through.

Mt Albert electorate outreach coordinator Sharon Reece says people who have moved into the electorate since the general election and 18 to 29-year-olds are among those being targeted.

“We are targeting these locals as they make up most of the people not enrolled in the electorate,” says Ms Reece.

To be eligible to vote you must be 18 or over, be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident who has lived in New Zealand continu- ously for 12 months and have lived in the Mt Albert electorate for one month or more.

To enrol visit www. elections.org.nz, freetext your name and address to 3676, visit a PostShop or call 0800 ENROL NOW (080036-76-56).
