Peo­ple are be­ing en­cour­aged to get to­gether over a cuppa to mark Mercy Hospice Aware­ness Week next week.

This year the hospice is aim­ing to raise $2 mil­lion for aware­ness and hospice ser­vices in the com­mu­nity.

A num­ber of events are tak­ing place in­clud­ing: • Street col­lec­tions will take place on May 15 and 16, with vol­un­teers needed to shake buck­ets across Auck­land city. To vol­un­teer phone 3615966. • Peo­ple are be­ing urged to or­gan­ise a Cup of Tea Mo­ment in which groups of fam­ily and friends or work­places can en­joy time to­gether. The hospice will pro­vide a poster, col­lec­tion box and Dilmah tea and par­tic­i­pants are asked for a gold coin do­na­tion. Reg­is­ter at www.mercy hospice.org.nz • New World Vic­to­ria Park, Pan­mure and Eastridge will be ask­ing shop­pers to add a do­na­tion to their gro­cery bill through­out the week • A num­ber of hospice pa­tients will at­tend a track day at Pukekohe on May 12 where they can have fun by tak­ing a spin in per­for­mance cars.
