Mu­sic month rocks li­braries

It’s time to turn up the vol­ume at Auck­land city li­braries for New Zealand Mu­sic Month.

Sev­eral lo­cal li­braries are hold­ing events this month to cel­e­brate Kiwi sounds.

The Ep­som li­brary is hold­ing an orig­i­nal song con­test, with as­pir­ing mu­si­cians en­cour­aged to en­ter their best song on a CD.

A rare chance to visit the cen­tral city li­brary’s base­ment is avail­able through tours high­light­ing its sheet mu­sic col­lec­tion, with book­ings es­sen­tial.

The cen­tral li­brary is also hold­ing ukulele lessons and a jam ses­sion is planned for the Grey Lynn li­brary on May 29.

And the Mt Al­bert li­brary is hold­ing a tal­ent quest on Satur­day, May 23.
