Clothing to swap

Central Leader - - News -

Following on from February’s success, bargain hunters are invited to a second Swap-a-Cloth event this weekend.

Armed with $5 and a bag of clean pre-loved clothes, swappers can take home a new wardrobe.

The family-friendly fundraiser, which includes badge-making and homebaking, runs from 9am to noon on Saturday.

Clothes will be sorted into categories for patrons to rummage through just in time for winter.

Swap-a-Cloth is hosted by the Auckland Free Space Community Group, which is raising money to establish a new community space in Auckland.

The event aims to assist people with an affordable way to revitalise their wardrobe, in the spirit of reusing and recycling, says organiser Claire Dann.

“The last Swap-a-Cloth was just amazing, it was a fun community event all about reusing rather than buying new, and the funds raised are going back into the neighbourhood.”

Leftover clothes will be donated to a worthy cause and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Swap-a-Cloth is at 8a Mt Eden Rd, opposite the Powerstation.
