Pon­sonby’s five tries hard work

Reign­ing Auck­land club rugby champs Pon­sonby had their work cut out for them against a de­ter­mined Te Pa­papa-Mt Welling­ton side on Satur­day.

Pon­sonby even­tu­ally came away with the win 34-12, scor­ing five tries to two at Ham­lin Park.

But Te Pa­papa-Mt Welling­ton were com­pet­i­tive in the first half, re­strict­ing Pon­sonby to 12-5 at the break.

Gram­mar Carl­ton were taken to the limit by Teach­ers East­ern com­ing away with a 38-29 win at Corn­wall Park.

And Pa­p­a­toe­toe out­classed Eden-Roskill Ea­gles 31-5 at Fearon Park.

On Satur­day Pon­sonby face Paku­ranga at West­ern Springs, Gram­mar Carl­ton clash with Uni­ver­sity at Colin Maiden Park, Te Pa­pa­paMt Welling­ton visit Otahuhu at Sturges Park and EdenRoskill play Teach­ers East­ern at Orakei Do­main.

All games start at 2.45pm.
