The body of a woman found in her Western Springs home has been identified by police as Nuttidar Vaikaew, a 48year-old Thai woman.

Auckland police communications manager Noreen Hegarty says police are still investigating and the scene examination was expected to be finished last Friday.

The woman is thought to have been at the Warwick St address for a month before being discovered by police.

“It’s clear from our preliminary evaluation of the scene that the woman has been dead for some weeks and we’d like to be able to get some clarity around when she was last seen alive and by whom,” says detective inspector Scott Beard.

A 47-year-old computer programmer is due to appear in court today charged with assault.
