2010 shap­ing up to be or­ches­tra’s high note

Mu­sic lovers will en­joy a lineup of top artists for the Auck­land Phil­har­mo­nia Or­ches­tra’s 30th sea­son.

The 2010 sea­son in­cludes an ap­pear­ance by Grammy-nom­i­nated soloist Mi­dori, Cana­dian vir­tu­oso James Ehnes and a range of artists mak­ing their de­buts.

There will also be fa­mil­iar faces among the per­form­ers, in­clud­ing New Zealand pi­anist John Chen and Michael Hill In­ter­na­tional Vi­o­lin Com­pe­ti­tion cham­pi­ons Feng Ning and Josef Spacek.

A range of na­tional and in­ter­na­tional works are on the pro­gramme, from Sym­phony No 8 by Shostakovich to the Auck­land pre­miere of John Psathas’ Marimba Con­certo.

Sub­scrip­tions for 2010 are avail­able now, with up to 40 per­cent sav­ings on ticket prices.
