Eden Roskill double
Eden Roskill turned around what’s been a poor start to the club cricket season with two consecutive twenty20 wins on Saturday.
After four losses in a row in the past two weekends, they humiliated Papatoetoe, dismissing the reigning twenty20 champions for just 74 at Lloyd Elsmore Park.
Eden Roskill posted 75-8 in showery conditions, taking out victory in the 19th over.
The success continued for Eden Roskill as they finished the day on another winning note against University Ellerslie in the afternoon session, in the playoff for 11th place in the twenty20 competition.
Anand Mitha, 39, and Sanjay Patel, 35no, lead Eden Roskill to 136-5 before Tim Henderson’s 3-9 helped reduce University Ellerslie to 1039.
Meanwhile, Cornwall couldn’t keep up their early season form, losing to Waitakere City in their final round-robin game.
Auckland batsman Anaru Kitchen’s outstanding knock of 91 led Waitakere City to a rain-adjusted score of 168-3, before Blair White’s 4-29 limited Cornwall to 136-8.
Cornwall’s luck didn’t get any better in the playoff for fifth against Papatoetoe, posting just 83-8 from their 20 overs.
In reply Papatoetoe cruised to victory, notching up 87-2 in just the 12th over.
Grafton United suffered a 22-run loss to North Shore in their final competition match. They managed 68-7 in reply to North Shore’s 93-7, while their playoff match for ninth against East Coast Bays was rained off. The one-day competition kicks off on Saturday with Cornwall hosting Grafton at Cornwall Park and Eden Roskill visiting Suburbs New Lynn at Ken Maunder Park.
