After years of success, the Mt Albert Ramblers men’s softball side looks unsteady in the Auckland Fastpitch competition thanks to two big losses this season.
In a weekend of mixed results, reigning champs Ramblers had a stunning 13-1 win over new club Hibiscus Coast on Saturday, before losing 6-1 to Northcote.
The club has already suffered an 11-5 loss to the Waitakere Bears this season after losing just one match in 20 championship games last year.
The team could redeem themselves against a struggling Glenora side at Warren Freer Park on Saturday.
Meanwhile Eden Roskill scored a strong 82 win over the Roosters at May Rd, while Auckland United had a bye.
Eden will play Northcote at Rosedale Park on Saturday.
In the women’s competition Ramblers notched up their sixth win in a row. Hibiscus Coast fought back at the end before Ramblers won 5-3.
Former international Tuhi Cooper and star allrounder Michelle Kingi each had two strong hits to inspire the side.
Ramblers will play a double-header against Marist and local rival Metro at Howick on Sunday, but should stay on track for the key clash against fellow leaders Otahuhu.
Metro women are battling for survival after falling to Otahuhu 18-1.
