Cornwall batsmen run into trouble
Eden Roskill’s recent run of good form continued with a 48-run win over Cornwall in the Jeff Crowe Cup one-day club cricket competition on Sunday.
Half centuries from Brad Staddon, 62, and Vivek Trichy, 57, saw Eden Roskill post a competitive 259-9.
In reply, Brent Findlay’s unbeaten century of 101no wasn’t enough, with no other batsmen offering any meaningful support and Cornwall finishing at 211-8.
At Onewa Domain Grafton United couldn’t compete with an impressive performance from Takapuna.
Despite Ankur Mistry and Jonothan Roberts taking three wickets apiece for the visitors, Blake Douglas took the game away from Grafton with a quickfire 76 in a total of 248-9.
Jared Cunningham, 75, and Tony Manning, 36, were the only batsmen to stand up for Grafton, who were eventually dismissed for 189 in the 44th over.
Meanwhile, sodden outfields prevented play in many matches around Auckland in the Hedley Howarth two-day competition on Saturday.
Day two of the match between Grafton and Eden Roskill was abandoned because of heavy overnight rain on Friday, while limited play saw the game between Cornwall and Takapuna finish in a draw. Results: Eden Roskill
