Nom­i­nate for con­ser­va­tion role

Auck­lan­ders with a keen in­ter­est in con­ser­va­tion are be­ing sought to stand for the Auck­land Con­ser­va­tion Board.

The boards are in­de­pen­dent bod­ies which in­ter­act be­tween com­mu­ni­ties and the De­part­ment of Con­ser­va­tion with a fo­cus on long-term con­ser­va­tion plans.

Con­ser­va­tion Min­is­ter Kate Wilkin­son is seek­ing six Auck­lan­ders who have a gen­uine and proven in­ter­est in con­ser­va­tion and want to make a dif­fer­ence in their com­mu­nity.

‘‘Pre­serv­ing our con- ser­va­tion es­tate is the re­spon­si­bil­ity of all New Zealan­ders not just the Government.

‘‘Mem­bers of lo­cal con­ser­va­tion boards get to have a say to help pro­tect their lo­cal con­ser­va­tion as­sets for fu­ture gen­er­a­tions,’’ she says.

Ap­point­ments will take ef­fect from July next year for a term of up to three years.
