Nominate for conservation role
Aucklanders with a keen interest in conservation are being sought to stand for the Auckland Conservation Board.
The boards are independent bodies which interact between communities and the Department of Conservation with a focus on long-term conservation plans.
Conservation Minister Kate Wilkinson is seeking six Aucklanders who have a genuine and proven interest in conservation and want to make a difference in their community.
‘‘Preserving our con- servation estate is the responsibility of all New Zealanders not just the Government.
‘‘Members of local conservation boards get to have a say to help protect their local conservation assets for future generations,’’ she says.
Appointments will take effect from July next year for a term of up to three years.
Nominations January 25.
