The latest report on the proposed city underground rail link confirms what most Aucklanders already know – the city needs it.
Anyone who has been to London or any other major city will have seen underground railways and how well they work – and how well they are used.
A recent study conducted by the Auckland Council on the world’s most liveable cities mentioned how all featured underground railways, along with modern light rail trams in their streets.
The city underground rail link needs to be started now, together with expanding the Wynyard Quarter tramway into a light rail system running the length of the waterfront to St Heliers, as well as up Queen St and along Dominion Rd to Lynfield.
Auckland needs a modern electric rail and tram system in order to have a clean, quiet and sustainable transport system that is not reliant on oil and can handle the numbers to cope with Auckland’s population growth. volunteers who help and support in the background enabling our volunteers to contribute as they do.
