Tale of revenge
A famous operetta of revenge, mistaken identities and flirtations is playing at The Factory Theatre until Saturday.
Filled with well-known tunes and waltzes, the Opera Factory’s Christmas performance of Die Fledermaus is being performed in English by some of Auckland’s leading singers.
NBR New Zealand Opera stars Emma Sloman and Cameron Barclay are taking to the stage alongside NZ Aria Awards recent runnerup Christie Cook.
The comedic opera is a global hit year after year during the Christmas season with both seasoned opera-goers and first-timers.
Central Auckland doctor Aidan Gill is swapping his stethoscope for a swag bag, playing Eisenstein the criminal.
He has been a member of the Opera Factory since the age of 11.
Funds raised will support next year’s programme of education, training and performance opportunities for up-and-coming classical singers.
Die Fledermaus runs until December 15 at 7 Eden St, Newmarket.
