Old money is going a long way to funding programmes for thousands of Kiwi kids.

During the last two years Lions clubs New Zealand has collected 14 tonnes of old money and foreign currency for its Heads Up for Kids campaign.

Individuals or groups with members aged 18 or younger are being invited to apply for funding from the campaign.

So far it has only been available to schools to pay for kids to attend education programmes including Outward Bound and The Spirit of Adventure.

‘‘Funding is not just available for outdoor activities, but any course that provides positive value to the lives of young New Zealanders,’’ Heads Up for Kids chairman Simon Hays says.

‘‘We strongly encourage ap- plications for education programmes involved in arts and music to sports and academia as well.’’
