Top Chi­nese acts to play at fes­ti­val

Top in­ter­na­tional acts are set to light up next month’s Auck­land Lantern Fes­ti­val.

Om­nipo­tent Youth So­ci­ety (OYS) and Beauty and Melody are two of the most highly ac­claimed mu­sic groups in China.

Both have been con­firmed to play at the an­nual lantern fes­ti­val which will run from Fe­bru­ary 22 to 24, in Al­bert Park.

OYS will be mak­ing its New Zealand de­but at the event.

The folk and rock band from He­bei Province is be­ing touted as the next big thing in Chi­nese mu­sic and have earned numer­ous ac­co­lades, in­clud­ing Band of the Year at the Chi­nese Mu­sic Me­dia Awards.

Beauty and Melody is an all-fe­male clas­si­cal mu­sic en­sem­ble. It com­prises of some of the best grad­u­ates from China’s ma­jor mu­sic con­ser­va­to­ries.

The fes­ti­val’s live en­ter­tain­ment pro­gramme will also in­volve many Auck­land Chi­nese per­for­mance groups.
