Mayoral fund helps Pacific beat disaster
Auckland mayor Len Brown is calling on businesses to give generously to build disaster readiness in the Pacific.
Mr Brown established the Mayoral Fund for the Pacific in the wake of Cyclone Evan to enable Auckland corporate and community sponsors to support emergency preparedness and rebuilding in the Pacific.
This fund is primarily
about building community resilience
over time, not emergency relief.
Mr Brown announced last week the Aucklanders making up the advisory committee to assess applications for grants from the fund.
They are Hamish Crooks (Cook Islands); John Kotoisuva (Fiji); Ikipa Tongatule (Niue); Rev Elder Lucky Slade (Samoa); Sandra Alofivae (Samoa); Foai Foai (Tokelau); Jenny Salesa (Tonga); with skills-based appointments Sandra Kailahi and Lucy Laitinen.
