Noise and risk

Central Leader - - OPINION -

We have lived in Greenlane for 17 years and have become very concerned over the increase in air traffic/noise over our house in Matai Rd.

It seems completely wrong to have the growing volume of air traffic flying over us/central suburbs, as we are so far from the airport.

I am woken most Sunday mornings by international flights that go right over us early and peak at around 7.23am.

I have found the noise offensive and am very concerned that it will only increase as the city gets larger.

It is a noise concern as well as a safety concern.

Cities like Sydney have dealt with this more aggressively and I think it is time we re-route the bulk of air traffic away from populated suburbs that are not near the airport and keep them nearer to the airport. disturbance in the early morning of May 5, 2013.

I was woken by a flight at home (Mountain Rd, Epsom) at 3am in the morning. the same level of sound. I do sometimes have to block my ears.

They look to be flying really low down when you see them.

One, painted black, was flying so low that it looked like it would crash in Epsom.

It certainly is making me think about moving.
