All welcome to school art show
Royal Oak Primary School’s annual art auction kicks off this Friday, showcasing work from professionals and students alike.
This is the fourth year the auction has run with all funds going to the school.
Last year’s auction was a hit with around $10,000 raised from a selection of unique artworks including a giant jar of Marmite.
This time around, the auction will feature work from renowned artists including Sam Mathers, who was influenced by Picasso’s art while working in London.
It is not the first time Mathers’ work has gone under the hammer at the school’s auction, with one of his pieces fetching more than $4000 last year.
As well as numerous professional pieces, there will be art from the school’s parents, staff and students up for grabs as well.
Principal Linley Bruce says the auction is a great chance for the school to connect with the community.
Friday’s auction begins at 7pm in the school hall with champagne, canapes and a cash bar.
Tickets cost $20 per person or two for $30.
