Heads misplaced

Central Leader - - LETTERS -

I am very sad to see the chopping down of a (at least)100-year-old pohutukawa at 2 Glenarm Rd, Mt Roskill.

It was about the only thing of beauty in a stark and brazen landscape of McDonald’s and other corporate businesses of consumption.

I truly think that Auckland councillors have their heads in the wrong place because if this is how they want to create the world’s most livable city then they are completely in the dark.

The tree may have been on private property but its presence belonged and helped to identify the entire community.

Now we have bright lights and cold steel and plastic. More like the smallminded little city and not mandated by me.
