Youtube en­tries wanted

Teenage mu­si­cians are be­ing of­fered a shot at the big time with the Sec­ondary Schools National Song­writer Awards back for an­other year.

There are $4000 in prizes in­clud­ing a chance to at­tend an in­ten­sive two­day song writ­ing and per­for­mance work­shop hosted by the New Zealand School of Mu­sic.

The win­ner will also get a shot at the National Song­writer Supreme Award along with a pro­fes­sion­ally pro­duced sin­gle of their orig­i­nal song.

As well, the supreme win­ner will be in­vited to per­form two orig­i­nal songs on stage at the Maid­ment Theatre in Oc­to­ber.

One of last year’s win­ners was Taka­puna Gram­mer School stu­dent Pe­tra Bul­lock who has gone on to per­form at the Bee­hive, Auck­land Viaduct and Bruce Ma­son Cen­tre.

The School of Mu­sic is ac­cept­ing YouTube en­tries from all sec­ondary school stu­dents na­tion­wide. En­tries close July 19. For more in­for­ma­tion visit national song­writer.co.nz.
