Po­lice seek bo­gus me­ter reader

Po­lice in­ves­ti­gat­ing a gun store bur­glary would like to find a man who vis­ited the shop be­fore the break-in claim­ing to be a me­ter reader.

Gun City on Carr Rd, Mt Roskill, was bro­ken into just af­ter 10pm on July 2 and 25 firearms were taken, ( Cen­tral Leader, July 5).

A man vis­ited the store ear­lier in the day telling staff he was there to read the wa­ter me­ter. He didn’t of­fer any iden­ti­fi­ca­tion and Water­care has con­firmed noone was as­signed to read the me­ter e that day.

The man is de­scribed as New Zealand Euro­pean, in his 60s, about 1.88 me­tres tall, of medium to solid build, with short grey hair, and wear­ing glasses and a blue po­lar fleece top. Any­one with in­for­ma­tion should con­tact Avon­dale De­tec­tive Sergeant Mike Wil­liams on 213 8495.
