Local board member steps down
Albert-Eden Local Board member Simon Mitchell has stepped down.
Mr Mitchell is a practising lawyer and cites the board’s high work load as a reason for his resignation.
‘‘Basically I’m just not in a position to put the energy into it for the next couple of months,’’ he says.
The move comes a few months before October’s local body elections and Mr Mitchell says the timing will allow the board to avoid a costly by-election.
Mr Mitchell was a member of the centre-left local body political group City Vision.
He was previously a member of the Eden Albert Community Board before the formation of the super-city.
