Animal lovers from across the country will protest a Government decision to allow the testing of legal highs on animals next week.
A march will begin at the bottom of Queen St on Tuesday at noon.
The silent protest will act as a memorial service in remembrance of the animals who have suffered and to send a strong message that people say no to the law, Ponsonby animal-lover and march co-ordinator Angela Beer says.
‘‘This ruling completely contradicts overseas guidelines that show the testing of rec- reational drugs on animals to be unethical and unnecessary. Many members of parliament admitted to having no prior knowledge of the credible non-animal testing alternatives until concerned members of the public handed them the information just hours prior to the vote,’’ she says.
Animal Welfare Organisation HUHA (Helping You Help Animals) Charitable Trust is co-ordinating marches nationwide.
