Gas­tro can­cers af­fect many

Gas­troin­testi­nal can­cers will be put un­der the spot­light dur­ing a panel dis­cus­sion on Au­gust 1.

Can­cers of the oe­soph­a­gus, stom­ach, liver, gall­blad­der, pan­creas and bowel are col­lec­tively the most com­mon form of can­cer in New Zealand.

The Gas­troin­testi­nal Can­cer In­sti­tute is host­ing the dis­cus­sion with lead­ing med­i­cal spe­cial­ists, who will dis­cuss evolv­ing treat­ments and med­i­cal re­search.

Guests will hear sto­ries of hope from gas­troin­testi­nal can­cer sur­vivors Paul Har­g­reaves and Grant Baker.

The dis­cus­sion is on Au­gust 1 at 6.30pm and in­cludes nib­bles and re­fresh­ments.

Tick­ets cost $20 per per­son or $37 for dou­bles and all pro­ceeds will help the in­sti­tute sup­port clin­i­cal re­search and help achieve bet­ter out­comes for gas­troin­testi­nal can­cer pa­tients.

It is be­ing held in the JR Fletcher Per­form­ing Arts Cen­tre, Kings Prep School, 258 Re­muera Rd, Re­muera. Best park­ing is on Omahu Rd.
