Close call at curling nats
Young Auckland curlers are keeping their South Island counterparts on their toes.
Mt Eden’s Chelsea Farley and Tessa Farley, central Auckland’s Thivya Jeyaranjan and Eleanor Adviento swept their way to a silver medal at the national curling championships in Dunedin from July 12 to 14.
They played a tight best-of-five series which went to the fifth game and managed an impressive comeback from 9-2 down to win the fourth game.
But it was experience that won on the day and New Zealand senior women’s skip Wendy Becker led her team to a 9-1 win in the deciding game.
