Bid to rid suburb of power pylons
A petition to rid suburbs of power pylons is being launched in Onehunga.
City Vision’s Bury the Pylons campaign got under way last month and now Onehunga residents are being asked to get involved.
A meeting to discuss removing pylons from the suburb and putting cables underground is being held at St Peter’s Church, on the corner of Onehunga Mall Rd, and Church St, starting at 3pm tomorrow.
It’s being hosted by MP Phil Goff, list MP Carol Beaumont, Auckland councillor Richard Northey, and Manukau Harbour Restoration Society chairman Jim Jackson.
Organisers say the pylons ruin views and lower property values.
