Last days to have a voice in running of the community
Those wanting to run in the local body elections have got until Friday to be nominated.
A postal vote will take place from September 20 to October 12 for the role of mayor, 20 governing body members, 149 local board seats, and positions on district health boards and licensing trusts.
Candidates must be nominated by a resident or ratepayer of the area they are running in.
Nominations close noon on Friday and Auckland Council is encouraging candidates to get their forms in ahead of time to avoid missing out.
Candidates should check their forms thoroughly.
‘‘Any errors must be corrected before the close of nominations, otherwise we are unable to accept the application, something which has happened in previous elections,’’ electoral officer Bruce Thomas says.
Nomination forms are available from the electoral office, Level 10, 45 Queen St, or by phoning 973 5212 or 0800 922 822, or at voteauckland.co.nz.
Completed nomination papers can be returned to the electoral office or any of the council services centres.
