Flight path tests

Central Leader - - LETTERS -

Ed’s note: Around 65 people attended the fundraising event. There were more than 61 items up for auction and $6600 was donated to the Galz Trust formed to help Amanda Lowry and her family. Can you do some investigation into what the airport and airlines are doing with their ‘‘testing’’ of new flight paths over Auckland to save fuel?

We never used to hear planes flying over but now we do sometimes.

It isn’t too loud and probably doesn’t breach noise levels but compared to the very quiet peaceful atmosphere of the suburb it is noticeable.

I have heard it is worse over central suburbs like Epsom.

I would never consider living in Papatoetoe or Manukau Heights because I knew they were in flight paths.

So how can they be so secretive about their changes to flight paths and get away with it?

Is there anything the public can do about it? Is this going to be permanent? What about property values being affected?

Is the airport going to compensate people most affected?
