Calling all young writers.
The Passchendaele Society is looking for entries in its annual story writing competition before the September 30 close off date.
If you are 16 or under you might like to write about one of your own relatives who fought at the Battle of Passchendaele.
Or maybe you’ve read a bit about the battle and would like to put a more general piece together.
Either way, all entries will be posted on the Central Leader website for everyone to see.
Your work will also be judged by members of the society and you could be among those chosen to place a poppy in memory of the fallen during a special ceremony at the Auckland War Memorial Museum on October 12. Entries should be no longer than 250 words.
Entrants are encouraged to talk with older relatives and use additional biographical information available on websites.
Background detail is also available at pass chendaelesociety.org. Send your stories to online. email@example.com and remember to type Passchendaele Competition in the subject line. And watch for your piece online at centralleader.co.nz.
