A sweet way to help SPCA

Central Leader - - NEWS -

Cupcakes are helping to raise money for the SPCA to provide food, shelter, and care for neglected, abused and injured animals.

The annual SPCA Cupcake Day is on August 26 and home bakers can get involved by registering to be a ‘‘Cupcake Cook’’ for the event where cupcakes are sold nationwide to raise funds.

Bakers can register as an individual, a school, or as a team.

‘‘SPCA Cupcake Day is a great way to combine your love of animals and baking into one sweet recipe for animal welfare,’’ SPCA Auckland chief executive Christine Kalin says.

‘‘It’s a proven formula that not only raises muchneeded money and awareness, but also brings together communities.’’

Ms Kalin says money raised in Auckland will remain in Auckland.

‘‘There’s a baker inside everyone, so get involved and help support a great cause. Your friends, customers, school, or workplace, and the animals of Auckland will love you for it,’’ Ms Kalin says.

Good cause: Steiney thinks SPCA Cupcake Day is a great idea.
