De­sign a parklet

Up-and-com­ing land­scape de­sign­ers are be­ing called upon to cre­ate a new gate­way to Kings­land. The com­pe­ti­tion run by the Kings­land Busi­ness So­ci­ety tasks en­trants with cre­at­ing a new en­trance to Kings­land Vil­lage on the pave­ment area out­side the Trin­ity Church hall at the cor­ner of San­dring­ham and New North roads. A parklet is one op­tion, so­ci­ety man­ager Chris­tine Fo­ley says A parklet is a small green space, usu­ally with seat­ing, at­tached to the pave­ment. To en­ter the com­pe­ti­tion you must be en­rolled in a de­sign or arts course at Unitec, or the School of Ar­chi­tec­ture and Plan­ning at the Univer­sity of Auck­land, or have grad­u­ated less than three years ago as a land­scape ar­chi­tect. De­signs will be ex­hib­ited in Trin­ity Church’s hall dur­ing the Auck­land Her­itage Fes­ti­val in Septem­ber and Oc­to­ber. The win­ner will get $600 and the op­por­tu­nity for their plan to be fur­ther de­vel­oped. En­tries close on Septem­ber 16. Visit kings­
