Design a parklet
Up-and-coming landscape designers are being called upon to create a new gateway to Kingsland. The competition run by the Kingsland Business Society tasks entrants with creating a new entrance to Kingsland Village on the pavement area outside the Trinity Church hall at the corner of Sandringham and New North roads. A parklet is one option, society manager Christine Foley says A parklet is a small green space, usually with seating, attached to the pavement. To enter the competition you must be enrolled in a design or arts course at Unitec, or the School of Architecture and Planning at the University of Auckland, or have graduated less than three years ago as a landscape architect. Designs will be exhibited in Trinity Church’s hall during the Auckland Heritage Festival in September and October. The winner will get $600 and the opportunity for their plan to be further developed. Entries close on September 16. Visit kingslandnz.com.
