Allen McLaughlin received a series of contradictory letters from Auckland Transport.

He first wrote to request assistance on behalf of his neighbour in October.

On November 6 he received a letter saying the request was declined because the berm was outside a block of flats and residents should have it looked after. The letter incorrectly referred to a berm in King St, which is in a different suburb.

On November 29 after several phone calls to Auckland Transport Mr McLaughlin received two letters. One was a repeat of the original rejection letter and the other said a contractor would mow the berm but only twice a year.

A subsequent letter received on December 6 apologised for the delay in addressing the request and said it would now be dealt with in the new year.
