Explorer Douglas Mawson did what?

Central Leader - - NEWS -

When Mawson made it back on February 8, 1913, the words of his first rescuer were: ‘‘My God, which one are you?’’ Not at all like ‘‘Dr Livingstone, I presume’’.

Other ‘‘silly season’’ topics: Dogs recognise their owners by their eyes, ‘‘Annie Oyster’’ runs a seafood stall at Coromandel, a woman called ‘‘Jihad Jane’’ faces life in jail in the United States and Obama is hot on high fives.

Now, the big one: Chicago Bears have signed quarterback Jay Cutler until 2020. He set a franchise record for total net yards (6109) and 445 points franchise leader in passing yards (14,913), passing yards per game (222.6), attempts (2090) and completions (1258).

In 67 regular season starts with the franchise, Cutler has directed the Bears to a 39-28 (.582) record.

Figure all that out.

Silly season: Prime Minister John Key and American President Barack Obama enjoy a game of golf while on holiday in Hawaii.
