A series of free writing workshops aimed at migrant women will return in February.

New Kiwi Women Write Their Stories creative writing workshops were created by the Auckland Council in 2011 to help migrant women in Auckland find their voice and express themselves through literature.

Budding writers are encouraged to experiment with a range of creative techniques, culminating in the publication of a book and a public launch and reading.

Facilitator Renee Liang says expression through the written word can be a great way to meet others in the community, record experiences and memories and discover new writing talent.

‘‘Each time we’ve run the workshops the most amazing and inspiring stories have come out.’’

The workshops run through February and will consist of two groups of up to 15 people each.

Courses will be held at the Sandringham Community Centre from February 1.
