Dogs on path
On Christmas Day I was cycling on the Te Atatu Peninsula coastal path.
There are signs everywhere making clear where dogs can and cannot go freely, and a huge grassy area near the car park where they can run around at will.
The coastal path is a nature reserve and rare native fernbirds and banded rails nest in the saltmarsh. Dogs are required to be on a leash there at all times.
After slowly passing two walkers I had to get past their two dogs but as I approached, one of the dogs ran up to me aggressively and put his jaws around my foot. He didn’t bite hard, probably didn’t like the metal of the pedal, but at that
