Separate cycleways

Central Leader - - NEWS -

Sadly yet another cyclist has been killed on Auckland’s roads. Such an unnecessary tragedy when overseas cyclists can travel in complete safety on separate cycleways. When I lived in Canberra I could cycle across the city without going on the road.

Driver education would go a long way towards reducing the risk of death for cyclists on our roads. Also shared use paths for pedestrians and cyclists would work well. Even mobility scooter riders would benefit from well maintained walkways. An increase in cycleways would reduce our traffic congestion and provide exercise options for those wanting to get fit by cycling.
