Central Leader - - NEWS -

Six containers filled with non-perishable food, water and other supplies are on their way to Tonga as part of a community relief effort.

The drive was led by Jenny Salesa, the Tongan representative from the council’s Mayoral Fund for the Pacific and supported by the generosity of the Tongan and wider community.

A number of companies including Matson Shipping and Progressive Enterprises have pitched in. Seven pallets of food and water are included in the shipment.

The group now wants to send another five containers.

Donations of nonperishable food and water can be left at the committee’s base, the Tongan Methodist Church in Orly Ave, Mangere.

Cash donations can be made through the Red Cross and Oxfam.
