The proposed East-West transport link will be focused on the Onehunga and Penrose areas after planners ruled out cutting through South Auckland.

Transport bosses have backed away from controversial plans to build a motorway through the grounds of South Auckland homes and schools as part of a project aimed at unclogging the busy area.
