Enjoy the benefits of Yoga in Daily Life
If you’ve decided this is the year that you’re going to make your wellbeing a priority, then the Yoga in Daily Life Centre in Onehunga provides the perfect starting point on your journey to a happier, healthier you!
The centre opened its doors in 2010 and here they teach ‘Yoga in Daily Life’ – a holistic system of health developed by Indian yogi Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda.
Yoga in Daily Life manager and experienced teacher Bhajan Ananda encourages those who have been wanting to try yoga to come along and to not let a lack of fitness put them off!
‘‘It’s a common misconception that you have to be fit, young and flexible to enjoy the benefits of yoga, but that’s simply not the case,’’ he says.
‘‘If you can walk you can do yoga.’’
At Yoga in Daily Life the teachers present a more traditional and holistic approach to yoga, with a variety of different classes, including beginners and pregnancy yoga, on offer seven days a week.
They try and keep it simple – as yoga was originally practiced, without the use of multiple props. This means that it’s easy for you to do yoga from the comfort of your own home too.
‘‘Our practice is very gentle on beginners and we don’t push people into anything they don’t feel comfortable with. We encourage them to do yoga with awareness and really listen to their body.’’
Bhajan is also keen for more Kiwi blokes to discover the multiple benefits of yoga. Despite being very popular with males overseas, men here are still a bit wary of coming along to a class, but are strongly advised to give it a go.
He is certain they will feel good after they have done a class.
The next beginners course starts on Wednesday, February 12, so book now to secure your place.
